Issues with applications on the new register
With the recent upgrade to the Motor Vehicle Traders register on 21 October 2024, some applications have been submitted incorrectly.
If a motor vehicle trader application is made by an individual, then that person must complete the application.
If a motor vehicle trader application is made by a company, then the director or chief of executive of that company must complete the application.
Section 31(1)(b) of the Motor Vehicle Sales Act 2003 explains who must complete an application for registration, to be made to the Registrar.
"An application for registration must be made to the Registrar in the prescribed form and must be signed
-
- If the application is made by an individual, by that person; or
- if the application is made by a company, by any person concerned in the management of the company"
